DID YOU KNOW?

The most frequently cited OSHA violations involve the Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR 1910.120. Failure to have a written Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) Program, failure to adequately train employees about the hazards associated with the chemicals in their workplace, and failure to maintain adequate Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are common citations.

In order to keep your employees safe, and avoid OSHA violations, establish a written program and train your employees to properly interpret an MSDS. Once the program is established, make the MSDS binder readily available to your employees. A program like this is not difficult to maintain once started. And remember, when it comes to chemicals in the workplace, its the employees "Right to Know". For more information contact ESI or the Nebraska Safety Council.
